SM Marains Advances Gearboxs India Pvt Ltd, working in Marine Fishing Industry for the past 60 years, started as a Marine Service enterprises and selling ADVANCE brand Marine Gearboxes and SINOTRUK brand Marine Diesel Engines across the coastal states of India.
We have 30 branches and 40 service points covering entire coastal territory in India, by 24 x 7 in all 365 days with our Sales, Service and Spares Network. As of today we are 600+ employees deployed in various services, working all over the coastal towns in India.
We have our own State-of-the art Marine Engine Assembly unit SM MUKKI MARINE ENGINE GEARBOXS PVT LTD., at our Head quarter Nagercoil, in Kanyakumari District in Tamilnadu state in India in technical collaboration with our partner M/s SINOTRUK (HONG KONG) LTD and it’s the only such unit available in southern India with Integrated facility of all Marine Engine assembly and testing facilities with stringent quality assurance systems to assure the uninterrupted working condition to the marine community. From 2023, we are appointed as the distributors of MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES Group’s Marine Engines, Auxiliary Engines & Marine DG sets for India region.
All Mitsubishi Marine diesel engines are manufactured to the highest standards, applying state-of-the-art production facilities, combined with experienced
workmanship. Production is carried out at the Sagamihara Works in Japan & Almere, Netherlands. This facility is confirmed by strict ISO-9001 international quality standards certified by DNV (Detnorske Veritas, Norway). MHIET marine engines have been originally designed for marine purpose, not a truck engines adapted to marine application. Thus our engine is specialized for marine purpose and had been use for multi-application such as pushers, tugs, passenger boats and fishing vessel around the world. An excellent performance of our engines such as long life, fuel consumption, long overhaul period, easy maintenance and reliability have been well accepted by the users. The parent company of our Group S.M.Engineering was started in 1962
Journey of SM Marains, our milestones and biggest achievements
1965-
S.Murugan, our founder, started SM Engineering Works in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, to provide servicing and maintenance of marine engines and gearboxes.
1975-
We extended our network to the neighbouring states of Kerala and Karnataka.
1985-
We became the authorized service partner for Ashok Leyland Engines and Gearboxes. After this monumental tie-up, the year 2002 saw the establishment of our branches in Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Kollam, and Kochi.
2004-
We identified the requirement for high-power engines and hydraulic gearboxes in the marine fishing industry in India. In 2005, our promoters went to China to form a strategic alliance with the Chinese manufacturers.
2006-
We signed an agreement with Hangzhou Advance Gearbox Group Co. We also started SM Marains to cater to the industry’s ever-growing need for various hydraulic gearboxes and engines.
2007-
We established a network of branches in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
2008-
We signed an agreement with Sinotruk Limited to distribute its marine diesel engines and spare parts across India.
2011-
We established a presence in all coastal cities in India.
2012-
We developed our own marine power-take off product – SME PTO, when our parent company SM Engineering Works celebrated its 50th anniversary.
2013-
SM Marains decided to focus more on customer engagement. This is why we launched a customer care toll free number, becoming the first representative of the Indian marine industry to do so.We started our Customer Meet Programme in 2015.
2016-
We opened a marine engine assembly unit SM Mukki Marine Engine Gearboxs Private Limited in Nagercoil. This has been established in technical collaboration with Sinotruk.
